1 .Com is the best choice

Always try to register .com domain name, because dot com is most popular, most people who use the web still make the automatic assumption that dot com is all that’s out there – don’t make the mistake of locking out or losing traffic to these folks.

2. Choose Easy To Remember Domain Name

The domain name is your website’s or blog’s address on the web so choose a good one that is not only easy to remember, easy to type and adaptable.

Register a domain name that is short and simple. If it’s long and complicated, it’ll be hard for people to remember.

3. Choose a Descriptive Domain name

Think about the name of your company, business or blog and the content you’ll put on your website or blog.

The domain name is one of the first things people notice about a website or blog so it should provide a good idea what your site’s about at a glance.

4. Adaptable Domain Name

A domain name is likely to be tied to your website or business blog for a long time so choose one that will work if your website’s content changes over time.

If your domain is onlyAndroidReviews.com and you eventually plan to review iPhones, onlyMobileReviews.com would be a better domain name than onlyAndroidReviews.com.

5. Reject Hyphens and Numbers in Domain Name

Always avoid hyphens and numbers because they make it hard to give your domain name verbally and falls down on being easy to remember or type.

They also correlate poorly with rankings in Google, with branding, and with traffic.

For example, if your domain name is Android-Reviews.com, most of the people will type AndroidReviews.com, because they are used to type domain names without hyphens. AndroidOne.com would be much better than Android1.com.

6. KeyWord Rich Domain Names

Ideally, you should strike a balance between finding a catchy, unique, brand-friendly domain name and having a domain that contains keywords you are trying to target.

Many people believe that the domain name itself is a ranking factor that the engines consider when calculating ranking order while Duane Forrester, Sr. Product Manager of Bing, claims it’s a myth that keyword rich domain names improve search engine rankings.

Google has made several changes that have de-prioritized sites with keyword-rich domains that aren’t otherwise high-quality.

So don’t try to cheat Google, having relevant keywords in a domain name can have a positive impact on ranking but your content must be high quality and relevant as well.

Here are few examples of good domain keyword rich domain name.

  • BoostBlogTraffic.com
  • SmartPassiveIncome.com

These two blogs not only have keyword rich domain names but they also publish high-quality content.

Domain names are important but they are not only ranking factor, for example here are few popular websites with different domain names.

  • cNet.com
  • moz.com
  • Yoast.com

Above mentioned websites are very popular but their domain names do not contain any keyword. MOZ and Yoast are now popular brands names. So choose a domain name wisely.

Consider .blog as the new extension for your blog. It’s simple and easy to remember and give you a special identity vs those that used .com
